Jeffrey Schultz, CPA is the Managing Member of the CPA Firm. He founded the Firm in 2003. He is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience, primarily in areas of business, real estate, individual, trust, and estate taxation. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Tax Section, and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accounts.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Michigan – Dearborn. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting in 1995.
Jeff has worked with C-Corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, and Non-Profits extensively. He has helped clients through: mergers, sales, purchases, consolidations, operating activities and budgets. He has worked with businesses with single and multiple locations in over 20 different states. He has also worked with foreign owned corporations, and helped those clients navigate through the applicable U.S. tax and accounting issues.
Jeff also works to help clients resolve their IRS issues. He has represented clients in matters of installment agreements, penalty abatement, filing old tax returns, IRS audit letters, Offer in Compromise, tax liens, statute of limitations, “Currently Uncollectible” status, CP-2000 notices, payroll tax representation, and trust tax issues.
Jeff’s real estate background spans his entire 20 year career. He first started working with residential rental properties and small apartment buildings in 1995. At that time his focus was on proper accounting and tax reporting for these types of entities. Jeff’s real estate clientele grew rapidly in the late 90’s. By that point in his career he was advising clients on proper tax structure for their properties. This included proper analysis of active participation rules, real estate professional status, like-kind exchanges, acquisition, and sales. By 2005 his client’s total real estate holdings exceeded 200 million. Today he continues to work with all levels of real estate. That includes single family rentals, large apartment complexes and high rise commercial buildings.
